Aktis Strategy joins the UN Global Compact

30th April 2018 | Aktis staff

We are happy to announce that Aktis has formally joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest network of organisations committed to sustainable business practices.

As a signatory to this initiative, Aktis commits to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across its global operations. Since its foundation, Aktis has been fully committed to promoting sustainable positive change in the world’s most challenging environments. Through our participation in the Global Compact, we will focus our efforts in promoting the following goals:

  • Goal 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies – Aktis was founded to deliver impactful, sustainable reform in fragile and conflict-affected states. Our team brings decades of experience delivering programmes aimed at providing effective security and justice services that bolster human rights and respond to the concerns and demands of local populations.

  • Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls – Aktis is fully committed to gender sensitivity. Our staff are trained in the use of tools to ensure that our approach considers the needs of women and girls, as well as other vulnerable members of the communities our work affects.

This membership reflects Aktis commitment to promoting sustainable business practices which are in line with key international principles on human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. We look forward to developing fruitful collaborations with other Global Compact members in this space.

The UN Global Compact supports companies to do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with the Ten Principles on human rights, labour and anti-corruption; and take strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN SDGs, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation.
